Virat Kohli, the Indian batting star, has another historic accomplishment to his glorious career. Kohli achieved the 28,000 international runs milestone against New Zealand in the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, the third cricketer in the world to do so.

This was only the second time after Kohli that this had been attained by Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. Kohli made it to the mark with a cool knock of 25 runs, but the fact that he did it was even more special in the speed in which he did it. He had made 28,000 international runs in less than 28,000 innings compared to Tendulkar and Sangakkara, which highlights his consistency in any format.

Kohli further became the first to surpass overall international run tally of Sangakkara in the process. The previous captain of Sri Lanka ended his career with 28 thousand one hundred and forty-five runs, which is now overtaken by Kohli.

The milestone was reached in a match that New Zealand was the first to bat and registered a total of 300 runs. The visitors began in a good way with an excellent opening stand between Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls. Nevertheless, after breaking the stand, bowlers of India were able to reduce the scoring rate.

Daryl Mitchell gave New Zealand its feet once more as he scored a mature 84 runs to help his team to a competitive score. In the case of India, three wickets were taken by Pace of Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna. Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket and Ravindra Jadeja who had last played ODI cricket a long time ago was not able to take a single wicket.

With the game going on, the milestone of Kohli was one of the most discussed issues of the day. It has been through this that he has again cemented his position among the most great run-scorers of all time in the game.
