Tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father in Gurugram following a dispute over her independence and tennis academy.


This is an extremely tragic event that has rattled the sporting fraternity wherein the 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav was reported to have been shot to death by the father in their residence in Sector 57 of Gurugram. It took place in the afternoon at 2:30 pm on July 10, 2025, in Sushant Lok Phase-2.
Gurugram Police supported that the father, Deepak Yadav, shot Radhika five times during an intense quarrel. Three of these hit her. Taken immediately to a closed hospital, she was found dead in treatment. The suspect is in custody, and the licensed revolver that committed the crime is taken in the house.
The fight is said to have begun because of the fact that Radhika chose to operate her own tennis academy and as a result of being on social media. According to police sources, her father did not feel comfortable with increased independence.
Radhika Yadav’s tennis accomplishments had gained her respectability at both the state and international levels. In November 2024, she attained a career-best ITF women’s doubles ranking of 113. She was a person of discipline and insistence, not to mention that she was training young players at her academy as well.
A testament to her being described as focused and immensely talented, she was described by her former coach Manoj Bhardwaj as it is not only a personal loss but also a loss to Indian tennis altogether.
This tragic event has once again raised the issue of silent sufferings that many young women are going through in their own families.
