Qualifier 2: Gujarat and Rajasthan One Win Away From the Final

The race for the IPL 2026 trophy has reached its most crucial stage. Three teams are still in the race to join Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the final, and it will be on Friday night’s Qualifier 2 which will determine the fate of the third team. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will clash in New Chandigarh for a spot in the title match in the capital of Punjab.

Gujarat Titans have a golden opportunity to recover from their poor performance in Qualifier 1 here. Gujarat finished the league stage in the top teams, but were beaten by RCB and now have just one shot to retain the chance of winning the title. If they win, they would be heading to another IPL final, if they lose, their campaign would come to an end.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have the advantage in this match. The Royals have come from behind to hold onto their season with this impressive Eliminator win and are now one step closer to the title. The team have come on leaps and bounds since their last match and will be looking to build on their form in the primary match of the season.

Teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi will again be in the spotlight. The young batsman has been one of the most impressive players this IPL 2026 and is the highest run scorer of the tournament. He is a fearless spear at the top of the order which has caused problems for bowlers all season and Gujarat will have to challenge him early on.

However, Gujarat possess plenty of firepower of their own. They’ve been scattered across the lineup with match-winners, and they’ve consistently proven to be able to turn things around when the going gets tough. They will be looking to respond in the previous playoff game after a bumper crop of international players and proven IPL bowlers, make up their bowling side.

Gujarat gets the edge in head-to-heads against the two teams. The Titans have already had some good success against Rajasthan with memorable wins in the title-winning season. However, playoff cricket has a habit of disregarding past achievement and present form may turn out to be the final factor.

Batters have generally had the upper hand in Mullanpur this season. Some big high-scoring meetings have been prevalent at the site and there may be another open-run game in the works. Both the scorers are power hitters with the result demanding so much so that the fans will have only an intense battle soon after the first over.

The simple equation is win and go to the IPL 2026 final and if you lose, home. The competition has been going on for two months now, and now it’s down to one night.
