Robin Minz (born September 13, 2002) is a domestic cricketer. After winning an IPL contract for 3.60 crores, a 21-year-old boy from the Gumla area of Jharkhand became the first Adivasi cricket player in the league. While the Chennai Super Kings won him for 3.60 crores, the auction had a base reward of 20 lakhs. When he was eight years old, Robin Minz said in an interview conducted in June 2023 that he had a great ambition to play cricket.
Early Life and Background
Robin Minz was born in the gumla district of Jhardkhand city One day, his father came home and saw him playing with stones, trying to hit with sticks. His father made a wooden bat by himself and bought a ball for him to play. This is where he started to play cricket, but he decided to become a cricketer at the age of eight.
He started playing cricket more frequently when he started going to school. He belongs to a tribal family and does not have a good family background. His father stated in an interview that it was very difficult for him to afford the education of his three children. He used to borrow money sometimes to fulfil home essentials and needs for the family. It was very difficult for his father to purchase expensive cricket gear.
In one incident, his father went to purchase a cricket kit for Robin, thinking ₹2000 would be enough for a cricket kit. But they were surprised to hear that the bat alone costs ₹5,000. Shopkeepers also seemed suspicious, wondering if they could afford to purchase the kit. His father borrowed money for it and purchased the kit. Having all these problems in his family, his father didn’t stop supporting him. He always stood for his son, Robin, to pursue his dreams for cricket. Robin’s family always knew that he had great knowledge of cricket.
