The Vaibhav Suryavanshi Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 match at Eden gardens became a big talking point, when 14-year-old Vaibhav played one of the best innings of the season. Opening for Bihar, he scored an excellent 108 from 61 balls* against Maharashtra taking his team to a fine 176/3 in 20 overs.

The pace was slow and most of the batters were finding it difficult to find big shots. But Vaibhav displayed fantastic control for his age. He began calmly, read the pitch well and then came to attack them. His century had a collection of 7 fours and 7 sixes, which proved his fearless style of batting.

This knock also came at the perfect time. Before this match Vaibhav had scored only 14,13 and 5 in his last 3 innings. Bihar too had lost three matches on a trot. His hundred not only helped the team get off to a bumper start but also gave them a lot of confidence in the Elite Group B stage.

Throughout the innings, Vaibhav set solid partnerships with Piyush Singh, Akash Raj and Ayush Loharuka. From 52/1 his smart acceleration drove Bihar past 170 which gave them a competitive total.

With this century, Vaibhav has become the youngest player to score a hundred in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His cool batting and attacking shots indicate why he is reckoned to be one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket.

Vaibhav has already bowled well in other tournaments as well. He made a T20 century for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 and smashed 144 runs off 42 balls for India A in Emerging Asia Cup. His performances prove that he is not just a one match wonder but a fast rising star to watch.
