What is the prize money for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has just revealed the prize money of 2.45 million USD for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and it is said to be the highest prize money in the history of cricket in ICC tournaments. ICC has set a historic prize fund of 11.25 million USD for the table toppers.

The ninth edition of T20 World Cup consists twenty teams for the competition and it is said to be the biggest of its kind. Competition will be played over the period of 28 days at nine different locations around the USA and the West Indies

Not only the winner will get a huge amount of money but runners-up will also be awarded 1.28 million USD while each of losing semi-finalists will earn $787,500 each. Teams which are not able to qualify for the second round will recieve $382,500 each. Teams finishing between ninth and twelfth place will secure $247,500 each, and those ranking from thirteenth to twentieth will earn $225,000 each. Additionally, every team will earn an extra $31,154 for each match won, excluding the semi-finals and finals.

The tournament will have total of 55 matches in which 40 will be played in a group stage and 12 matches are for the Super 8s. After battling in these stage only 4 teams will get the glory of playing semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

The final match will be held at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, where the 2024 men’s champions will be crowned.

The tournament’s significance was emphasized by ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice, who said, “It is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that this event is historic in so many ways.” The athletes will delight hundreds of millions of fans worldwide in what we hope will be an extraordinary occasion.
