Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed this in a conference held in Rajkot on Thursday. Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain of the World Cup campaign.

After so many days of speculation that who will lead India in the T20 world Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally revealed. he also confirms that Rahul Dravid will be the head coach during the T20 World cup and hardik panya as vice-captain of the team.

“We may have lost the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. But we won hearts thereby winning 10 matches in a row. I am confident that India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy at Barbados,”

Jay Shah confidenally said “I have not spoken anything on the 2023 World Cup, when we were defeated in Ahmedabad. At the event when the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium was renamed the Niranjan Shah Stadium, But I can assure you that India will win the T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 29 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.”

Shah’s announcement comes in the presence of Rohit sharma head coach Rahul Dravid, Chairman of men’s senior selection committee Ajit Agarkar and some indian player the Indian squad.

Rohit sharma was not seen playing T20I from in last 14 months. However, he was brought to play a T20 series in january against afghanistan. In 3 matches series he got out on ducks in first two games but came back with a hundred in 3rd match.

Recalling third T20I against Afghanistan, “when india was struggling on 22/4 and from this situation Rohit take india to a 212//4, we cannot question his ability on this format. Although we won 10 consecutives match in world cup but we fell short in the final match. It’s a part and parcel of the game. Jay Shah said”

Shah said that the board has just advertised for a new selector, who will be appointed shortly. He said that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will make the decision when asked explicitly if the next selector would come from the North Zone. “The Test series team has been selected. There won’t be any overseas assignments after this. The Indian Premier League exists. However, we will complete the procedure as quickly as possible,” he declared.
