T20 WC 2026: Ayush Badoni Earns India A Call, Set to Miss Ranji Trophy Match

The T20 WC 2026 is only a few days away and domestic cricket is already being impacted by the preparations that India has made. Ayush Badoni is one of the players who have been on the receiving end of this change as he has been introduced into the India A World Cup warm-up programme.

Badoni will participate in two pre-game games that will be arranged prior to the commencement of the global event. Consequently, he is not going to be available in the last Ranji Trophy group match of Delhi with Mumbai. There will be another young batter (Priyansh Arya) who will equally miss the match as he has the same national assignment.

The United States and Namibia will have practice matches with India A, as part of their preparation to the T20 WC 2026 that will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The matches are meant to make the team practice on the conditions of a tournament and test fringe players before the actual one.

Delhi have lost two of their crucial batters and so they have entrusted Ayush Doseja with the leadership responsibility, which he has played the best this season. Although Mumbai have already qualified to the knockout stage, Delhi will aim at establishing the match as a confidence-building match.

It is another step in the changing career of Badoni. His selection as part of the World Cup preparation team is an indication that he had earlier been trusted by the selectors in working with India A in the past, and this was further evidenced by his recent call-up to the senior India team with the T20 WC 2026 just two years away.
