Broadcasting
The rules of broadcasting have changed in IPL 2025. With the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, a new company named JioStar has been formed, which will now take over the entire responsibility of broadcasting the IPL. Earlier Star Sports had TV rights and JioCinema had digital rights. But now both have come under JioStar, due to which there has been a big change in IPL telecast.

JioStar has selected Disney+ Hotstar for digital streaming. Earlier in the 2018-22 IPL season also, Hotstar had shown live matches. Now JioCinema may be shut down and viewers will have to go to Disney+ Hotstar to watch IPL.
After this merger, JioStar has become the biggest player in IPL broadcasting. This will provide a better experience to those watching IPL on both TV and digital medium. But JioCinema fans will now have to shift to Disney+ Hotstar. This change can prove to be a major reshuffle in the media industry.
