The series will also be a chance for Shubman Gill to get his hand on India’s Test team again but the visitors will have to play without the likes of Jasprit Bumrah. After some injuries and changes to the squad, India are still in the process of figuring out the best combination.
Gill has already underlined the significance of the series and India must have a good spell to remain a contender for the final of the WTC.

Sri Lanka See Opportunity Against India
Sri Lanka will come into the game with hopes of capitalising on India’s fluctuation. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis are injured and Niroshan Dickwella has been brought back into the Test format.
The hosts also had their eyes on the offspinner Keshara Nuwantha who made a splash in the warm-up game by bowling KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant out of the contest.
But India have a good recent record against Sri Lanka in Test cricket. In their last 10 Tests, they have reached an eight-wicket victory series with draws in the remaining two games against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka last won a Test match against India at Galle in 2015.
