The nominees in the 2026 ICC Player of the Month have been formally announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), and with the nominees in the men shortlist, there has been debate among the cricket fans. Amazingly, none of the players of India has made it to the list despite the fact that the team recently scored a historic win by winning the T20 World Cup 2026.
India won the trophy by beating New Zealand in the final that was held in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. That win achieved by the Indian team made history in that it was the first team to win the T20 World Cup and successfully retain it. A number of Indian players performed well in the tournament, yet the nominations of the February awards were determined with regards to performances in that particular month.
Three nominees of the Award.
There are three players who are in the shortlist of the ICC in the February honour, and they are Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan, Will Jacks of England, the all-rounder, and Shadley van Schalkwyk of the USA, the pacer.
Farhan also presented one of the finest battings in the tournament. The Pakistani opener had 383 runs and a strike rate of more than 160 and a good average. He also set another major tournament record during the event to have the most number of run in a single edition of T20 world cup previously held by Virat Kohli. Another history that was created by Farhan is that he scored two centuries in the same tournament, which is hard to come by in T20 world cups.
England Will Jacks gained his nomination by performing well in all-round. Jacks also played with both the bat and ball, and had 194 runs and a high rate of strike and also collected 11 wickets. His good performances made England lead to the semi-final of the competition. He was also consistent as he won several Player of the Match awards throughout the tournament.
Shadley van Schalkwyk of the United States was the third nominee to shine with bowling. The quick bowler had 13 wickets in the tournament and his economy rate was very sound. Two of his greatest performances were when he took four wickets in any game against a strong team such as India, and Pakistan.
Next month Indian Players Could Feature.
Despite the fact that there are no Indian players in the February nominations, the nominations of the World Cup could give some world cup stars a strong contender in the March Player of the Month award. The knockout games were especially good in performances by such players as Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah who were instrumental in the title winning campaign by India.
Both players also gave match-winning performances in the key moments in the tournament, and their efforts might make both of them some of the most mentioned candidates next time the nomination list is announced.
Representation of Indians in Woman category.
At the time the list of men covered made no nomination of any Indian player, India was not left behind in the nominations in the women list of Player of the Month. Arundhati Reddy- the fast bowler has been shortlisted after a superb performance she did during India T20 series victory over Australia.
Reddy completed his series as the top wicket-taker with eight wickets and significantly contributed to the win of the series by India by 2-1.
