Sri lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and put india to bat first as looking the condition of the pitch and weather of the match. Batting first, India made 269 for 8 in 47 overs. Chasing the target, Sri Lanka could only manage 211 in 46 overs and lost by 59 runs. Hasini Perera’s early wicket made it difficult for Sri Lanka to get a strong start, and the team could not keep up with the asking rate.

Selectors and cricket experts had made Hasini Perera one of the most important players in Sri Lanka before the World Cup. She’s not considered a big hitter, but his strengths lie in his cautious play, swinging the ball, and staying at the crease. This is why she was brought into the team to provide balance and support to aggressive batsmen like Athapattu.

Hasini Perera had the expectation to remain longer at the crease, to secure her wicket and to guide younger batters like Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari in difficult circumstances. Her 14-run dismissal in the first game was lower than the team and the fans could expect and in the absence of her steadiness, India bowlers dominated the game.
