Cameron Green ruled out of India ODIs with side soreness; Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Philippe added to Australia’s squad as injury replacements.

Cameron Green the Australian all-rounder has been ruled out of the ODI series against India due to his side soreness. Five match ODI series between India and Australia is about to be begin from October 19 to October 25. In such a situation, Cameron Green’s exclusion could be a big blow for Australia, but Cricket Australia has called Marnus Labuschagne into the team to compensate for Green’s absence.

However, Green’s injury has been diagnosed as a low-grade strain, but Cricket Australia is closely monitoring his recovery. The board’s plan is to ensure that Cameron Green fully recovers before the upcoming Ashes series.

Green has been rested to prepare for the Ashes.

Cameron Green played for Western Australia in the first Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales last week. He was not allowed to bowl two consecutive days due to concerns about his fitness from Cricket Australia’s medical team. Therefore, he bowled only four overs instead of eight and took one wicket.

Due to this injury, he was already not expected to bowl against India, and now he has been given complete rest. However, there is a possibility that he might play in Western Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match, which is set to begin on October 28.

Cricket Australia’s statement this morning “Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes.”

Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Philippe into the team

Replacing Cameron Green, Labuschange is selected in the team looking his recent domestic and international performance. He has scored two centuries for his domestic team Queensland in the 50-over format. Although he was initially overlooked for selection after managing low scores of 1 and 1 in the home ODI series against South Africa in August.

Josh Philippe will be replacing Josh Inglis, who continues to recover from his calf strain and is yet to regain full fitness. Australia has been dealing many changes for this series from their captain Pat cummins to Josh Inglis. Adam Zapma will also not available for the first match and he will likely to join from the second game. Similarly, Alex Carey and Josh Inglis are likely to be available from the second ODI, giving Australia a full-strength squad for the remainder of the series against India.
