Bumrah, Samson Back as India Name Strong Squad for Afghanistan T20Is

India have named most of their important players to face Afghanistan in their next three T20I series in New Delhi, led by Shreyas Iyer.

After missing the T20I format for a long period, Jasprit Bumrah is making his return. He had his last appearance in India in the World Cup final against New Zealand in March. Sanju Samson is another name to look out for as he comes back after missing out on the Zimbabwe series, and is one of two specialist keeping options with Ishan Kishan.

This new line-up includes eight changes from the squad that went to Zimbabwe. Rinku Singh, Suryansh Shedge, Harsh Dubey, Prabhsimran Singh, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Mayank Yadav and Ashok Sharma have not been retained.

Bowling unit’s look experienced in the Indian side. Other players besides Bumrah are Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi. Harshit Rana has also been picked, but will be subject to fitness clearance.

Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar will also be impacted by fitness. All three have been added to the squad but will be tested before the series.

India has several options in its batting and all-round departments as young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the bench while Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel are also in place.

All three T20Is will take place in New Delhi on September 13, 15, and 17.

The series will be a chance for India to reunite a few of their regular T20 players and also give opportunities to young players like Sooryavanshi.
