BCCI is closely monitoring the progress of teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, hoping that his meteoric ascent will continue to be a long and fruitful international career.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has stated that the board desires to give Sooryavanshi and other promising young players the proper direction and assistance when they are starting out. Saikia said the emphasis is to make the 15-year-old a long-term success.
The young batter’s stellar performance was one of the topics discussed at a recent BCCI review meeting in Mumbai, it is reported. Senior board officials, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Centre of Excellence chairman VVS Laxman attended the meeting.
BCCI’s attention is now to Vaibhav’s growth.BCCI now has its eyes on Vaibhav’s development.
The board is aware of the critical importance of developing a player who has had so much success at such an early age,” Saikia said.
Every facet of Sooryavanshi’s development is being closely watched as the BCCI works on bringing his international career in the right direction, the BCCI secretary said.
Saikia also drew parallels between the desired longevity of Sooryavanshi’s career and Sachin Tendulkar, who has played for India for over two decades.
The BCCI’s goal is not just to honour the kid in his early success but to keep him in the form for India for a long time.
A Rapid Rise at Just 15
Sooryavanshi hasn’t had a bad time being just 15, as he has turned out some good performances already.
He recently set a new record in the Duleep Trophy as the youngest half century scorer in the history of the competition, which was held for 57 years.
He has also performed internationally, and his work has been recognized. Sooryavanshi was outstanding, scoring 151 runs in three matches and even getting the Player of the Series accolade in India’s T20I series against Zimbabwe.
Later he became the youngest Indian male to make his debut for the country in the T20I series against England.

The young batter registered 1 century and 5 half-centuries in the tournament, and got to score 776 runs to earn the Orange Cap. His six-hitting prowess also was impressive with 72 sixes in the season.

International cricket has already occupied Sooryavanshi’s time and the board’s task is to ensure he has the support and guidance required to make a career out of an outstanding start to his career for India.
