Introduction

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, situated in Nava Raipur a city of Chattisgarh state, India. This is the third largest cricket stadium in India and the fifth-largest stadium in the world.

The stadium is being named after the landlord of Sonakhan, Veer Narayan Singh Binjhwar. He was the pioneer of the Chhattisgarh Indian independence movement in 1857.

SVNS International Cricket Stadium was inaugurated in 2008. In 2010, the first ever match was played on this ground between the Canada National Cricket Team and the Chattisgarh State Team. This was a practice match when Canada’s national team arrived in India for a series.

The stadium became very popular when the Delhi Capitals team, formerly known as Delhi Daredevils has announced this as their second home ground in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After that many IPL matches have been played on this ground.

In January 2023, the first international ODI cricket match was played between India and New Zealand, which was won by India.

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium’s pitch offers stability for both batsmen and bowlers. It often shows assistance to pace and spin bowlers both. In all it is a good cricketing pitch where everyone can show their cricketing skills.

IPL, CLT20 and 2020-21 Road Safety World Series matches have been played on this ground but only 2 times the score crossed the mark of 200 runs.

SVNS International Cricket Stadium is considered one of the biggest stadiums in India due to its boundary dimension. The field is 180 yards by 160 yards, and the average length of the borders is 80 metres and a maximum of 84 metre boundary can be set for any format of cricket matches
